Of Classical architectural form, the moulded cornice above three bays each with an arched opening enclosing shelves above a panelled cupboard door.
Provenance: Private Australian Collection.
Condition: The book-case breaks down into three sections (the central bay and the two flanking bays).
It comprises components of an eighteenth-century Bolognese book-case that, according to information from the vendor, had been built in to its original setting and was adapted to its present form some decades ago by a Melbourne artisan cabinet-maker.
It remains in very good, well-polished condition. There is a minor shrinkage crack to the left-hand side. The lock to the lower right cupboard requires attention (turning but not properly unlocking, meaning that door is presently closed). The interior to the lower cupboards is paper-lined and there are a few scuffs to the paper.
Weight: Approximately 100 Kilograms.
Dimension: Height: 233 cm Width: 312 cm Depth: 66 cm.
