After the 1st century Roman marble copy found at Gabi outside Rome in 1792 and now in the Louvre, Paris. Based on the original 4th century B.C Greek Artemis by Praxiteles, the goddess of the hunt is here shown wearing a diadem, a 'chitoniskos' with overhang and lace tied sandals, holding the clasp in her raised right hand to tie her 'chlamys', a tree trunk behind her right side, on an integral round base, the whole supported by a second contemporary fabricated steel cylindrical base.
